Diavolo

KINGU CRIMSON

Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way first, Diavolo is at the bottom of the list when it comes to Jojo villains. That doesn't matter though, because his character design is top tierrr (apart from the string vest, idk what Araki was thinking when giving him that). The whole split personality thing is cool, I like Doppio and how he hid Volo from everyone else. Once you find out what his stand does, you realise why everyone is scared of him. Diavolo is sick because he's always on "GO MODE". If he gets a whiff of betrayal, someone's dying. King Crimson is one of the coolest stands in Jojo and represents its user the best. Its always frowning, just like Diavolo. A character who's abilities tie into their personality or lore is in my good books. The whole theme of fate and trying to change things that are set in stone is interesting in part 5. Diavolo is an important part of this, his stand defies fate every time he uses its abilities (until Giorno came with the beat down, karma I guess). Imo, his backstory should have been fleshed out a bit more and him and Trish should have had interactions between each other (come on Araki mannnnnn).

Personality

Because he wants to stay hidden, he constantly speaks through his stand. A nice touch imo

Like I said before, this guy is always frowning. The main appeal to this character is how ruthless and cold he is. It makes sense because he is the boss of the most powerful gang in Italy. Diavolo cares about nothing but himself and the way he fights really shows the viewer that he wants to end his opposition’s life quickly. Diavolo is constantly paranoid and anxious about his identity being revealed, believing in beating your past self in order to become stronger. Calling this an obsession is an understatement, he killed his mother and tries to kill his daughter. All so his ID stays hidden.

Volo was confident him and his stand will win, even when his stand and identity was revealed. I don’t blame him because King crimson is broken, especially in the hands of someone who would kill without hesitation. You would think a mafia boss would have a right hand man or a few subordinates he trusts with his life (like in the Godfather or sumn). Volo said NAH, its me, myself and I. If he’s willing to kill family, no one is safe.

Abilities

The stand is unfair, let's be real

I’m going to try my best to explain King crimson, the meme behind the stand holds true (I don’t know what substances Araki was taking when designing this, I swear):

Time skip: Diavolo’s stand, King Crimson’s main ability. He can skip up to 10 seconds into the future, the time skipped is basically “deleted” from reality. This leaves who ever he is fighting confused and disorientated. While Diavolo skips time, his body and stand are intangible. A clear example of this would be:

“Opp shoots at Diavolo —> Diavolo time skips —–> During time skip, Volo is intangible so the bullets go through him —-> Time skip ends, leaving Diavolo untouched and the shooter confused”

Epitaph: King Crimson can see 10 seconds into the future. Simple yet ridiculously effective when paired with someone who can time skip all over the place.

King Crimson is ridiculous

Smoke

11/10, he’s paranoid and anxious 24/7. There’s no such thing as a friend or ally, its only me, myself and I. Several characters fell victim to his stand. Every fight starts with him instantly time skipping, its so frequent that you expect someone to die or sustain severe injuries whenever you hear King Crimson’s sound effect.
